CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Despite being the reigning U.S. Open winner, Brooks Koepka knows he’s somewhat forgotten when people mention the top young players in the sport.
“It doesn’t bother me,’’ he said. “I don’t know if it has to do with the route [he played in Europe when he was younger] or whatever. I just think there’s a group of 10 guys, maybe, you go down the list from Jordan [Spieth], Hideki [Matsuyama], Justin Thomas, Rickie [Fowler] … there’s so many guys somebody’s going to be forgotten. I don’t really care. Doesn’t matter to me whether I get all the attention.
“At the end of the day, I’d rather win. That’s what I’m here to do.’’
