SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — After a seven-over-par outing on Thursday, Dustin Johnson, the No. 2-ranked player in the world, needed to come out with a strong showing on Friday at the P.G.A. Championship. Instead, he posted back-to-back bogeys within his first four holes.
Johnson started out on Baltusrol Golf Club’s back nine and made par on the 10th and the 11th. But his tee shot on the 210-yard, par-3 12th found a bunker. After a pair of putts, he bogeyed the hole.
On the 446-yard, par-4 13th hole, Johnson found another bunker on his tee shot. From there, he got the ball onto the fairway and then onto the green. After two more putts, he had another bogey.
