Jared du Toit’s electrifying eagle gives Canada hope to end drought; Brandt Snedeker surges to RBC Canadian Open lead

What a story this is turning out to be.

Jared du Toit came into the week without a PGA Tour start on his record nor much notoriety. He was likely the third-most heralded player, behind Jon Rahm and Max Rottluff, on the 2015-16 Arizona State roster.

Now, though… oh man.

Du Toit, who sat one back after 36 holes at the RBC Canadian Open, ended his third round with a thump Saturday. The 21-year-old amateur came to Glen Abbey Golf Club’s par-5 18th green at 6 under, three off Brandt Snedeker’s lead and facing a 40-foot putt for eagle.
