GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Teachers at San Marino High School in Southern California allowed Elizabeth Wang to finish her sophomore year a week earlier than her classmates. Wang had a valid reason for the request: She was scheduled to compete in her first L.P.G.A. tournament.

With the event approaching, Wang had not played as many rounds or practiced as often as she normally does….
